Understanding the Medicaid pathway
NC Medicaid includes programs and services that may help eligible individuals receive approved support in a home or community setting. The type and amount of assistance depend on eligibility, an assessment of need, the applicable benefit or waiver, and authorization from the responsible program.
Personal Assist does not decide Medicaid eligibility and cannot promise coverage. Our role is to explain the services we provide, determine whether the person lives within our service area, coordinate with the appropriate program contacts, and confirm whether authorized care can be staffed.
Information that helps us guide you
- The person’s county and general support needs
- Whether the person is already enrolled in NC Medicaid
- Whether an assessment, authorization, or service plan already exists
- The name of an established case manager or care manager, if applicable
- The approximate schedule being considered
Services that may be discussed
Depending on the applicable program and approved plan, the conversation may include personal care assistance, in-home support, companionship-related support, or respite. Only authorized tasks and schedules can be delivered through a Medicaid-funded arrangement.
