What private pay means
Private pay is an arrangement in which the individual or family pays directly for agreed-upon home care services. It may be considered when someone is not eligible for a public program, is waiting for a program decision, or wants to explore services or scheduling that are not covered by an existing authorization.
Why families consider private pay
- A more direct conversation about available services and scheduling
- No requirement to qualify for a Medicaid-funded pathway
- The ability to focus the arrangement on current household priorities
- A written understanding of the services, schedule, rate, and payment expectations before care begins
Services that may be available
Depending on assessed needs and staffing, a private-pay arrangement may include personal care assistance, in-home support, companionship, or respite care. Personal Assist will explain what it can provide and what falls outside the scope of non-medical home care.
Questions we will discuss
We will ask who needs help, where care would take place, which routines are difficult, the desired schedule, and how soon support is being considered. After reviewing fit and availability, our team can explain rates, minimum scheduling requirements if applicable, payment timing, and the steps required before service begins.
Serving southeastern North Carolina
Private-pay availability may be explored across Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland counties. All services are coordinated through our Lumberton office.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Medicaid to use private pay?
No. Private pay does not require Medicaid eligibility, although assessment, service agreements, and staffing confirmation still apply.
Can private pay start immediately?
Not automatically. The team must first confirm needs, scope, location, schedule, required documentation, and staffing.
How do I request pricing?
Call (910) 739-3900 or submit a general request without including financial account information or medical records.
Personal Assist does not determine eligibility or guarantee authorization, coverage, an immediate start date, or service availability.
